I tought I taw - I did! I did! I did tee Michael Jordan!

Whether you’re old enough that it was released during your childhood or just had the good sense to check it out years later, watching Space Jam and giggling like a lunatic is a cherished memory for a lot of people.

Paradoxically owing its greatness in part to the fact that a good bit of it was pretty terrible (What? You mean Patrick Ewing isn’t a master thespian???), the Looney Tunes/NBA epic managed to burrow its way into the hearts and minds of millions of kids. So much so, in fact, that the folk/bluegrass/punk band Sledding With Tigers decided to dedicate an entire album to the movie. And if the first single is any indication, it’s going to be awesome.

The backstory is pretty funny as well: Attempting to save California’s popular C.H.E. Cafe venue, the band promised that if their tweet linking to a petition was retweeted 1,000 times they would write an album about Space Jam. Well, it currently sits at 1,088 RTs and singer Dan Faughnder ain’t no liar, so he got to work on the seven-track record Come on and Slam now set to be released on July 28.

Perhaps never really expecting it to be a thing, he admitted to Noisey that “halfway through this process, [he thinks he] really started to regret ever telling anyone that [he] would write an entire concept album about Space Jam,” but now he was “actually pretty stoked on it.” I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – the Internet makes truly magical things happen. I mean, just check out the artwork:

Lemony fresh!
