Man tries to rap after eating hottest pepper in the world

We all have friends who claim to like hot foods. They will pull out their President’s Choice banana peppers to put on burgers, or pickled jalapeños to add a little ~edge~ to their nachos, and they will always be super vocal and obnoxious about how they can’t eat something unless there’s sriracha on it. But would they eat a Carolina Reaper pepper, the 2013 world record holder for hottest pepper? Doubt it. I wouldn’t, either. I cried in a bar parking lot in Hamilton a few weeks ago after eating a hot wing.

But YouTube rapper Mac Lethal, who boasts over 500,000 subscribers, would. And he did. Whilst rapping. And he recorded it for all of us to see.

The Carolina Reaper measures around 1.6 million Scoville Heat Units, compared to your friend’s jalapeño, which clocks in at around 7000 Heat Units. Lethal munched one of these preposterous chilis on camera mid-rap, and then continued with his flow. Or at least, he tried to. He really did his best.

He winces at first, showing a bit of displeasure at chewing the pepper. After about 10 seconds he jumps back in briefly, stuttering through the heat, and then getting the hiccups, and then howling, and then crying out, “I NEED MILK,” before chugging from a glass jug. It’s really all downhill from there as the shot cuts to a scene of Lethal, in a snot-glazed, tear-tracked frenzy, trying to recover over the sink. He then tells us he bought the peppers off Amazon. What a time to be alive!
