She interviewed the mothers of Dr. Dre, Michael Stipe, Amy Winehouse, and Adam Levine for the book.

It isn’t easy, wearing the mantle of King of the Everyman Rock Dudes, but damn if Dave “Watch The Throne” Grohl hasn’t put in an admirable effort over the past few years. With Footloose- esque town shamings, an Emmy beef, and a TV show that’s basically catnip for rockists/the ‘rap is crap’ crowd under his belt, there’s no telling where Grohl will go next. Perhaps a political career? “Vote Grohl: a drum-off in every news cycle!”

Apparently, a sixth sense for great branding opportunities runs in the family: Dave’s mom, Virginia Hanlon Grove, has written a book about. Called From Cradle To Stage: Stories From The Mothers Who Rocked And Raised Rock Stars, the book is full of interviews with fellow mothers of music luminaries, and includes material with the mothers of Dr. Dre, Michael Stipe, Amy Winehouse, and Adam Levine. Let’s hope the interview with Adam Levine’s mom just includes one question: “Why?”

Disciples of the Grohlverload take note: the drumming Grohl reportedly penned From Cradle to Stage’s foreword, so expect 500 or so words about the importance of mortgage refinancing to afford your offspring a non-Coronet kit.

From Cradle to Stage will be out in April of next year. [h/t Stereogum]
