He says he has a lot on his plate right now.

If you have any friends that are into the Misfits, I don’t need to tell you what a big deal the recent reunion of their original lineupwas. (Pretty sure paramedics were working overtime reviving all the Misfits fans that had simultaneous heart attacks when the news was announced.) From all reports, the band (also featuring ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo and former Murderdolls guitarist Acey Slade) absolutely killed their two Riot Fest sets – but in an interview with The New York Times two days after the Chicago show, frontman Glenn Danzig was far from sure the band’s successful return would translate into a new album.

“If there’s going to be another Misfits record, I’d probably have to write the stuff,” he mused in his usual, super-humble style. “And I’ve got a full plate, so I don’t know.”

Right now, fans are praying Danzig’s nonchalant quip doesn’t destroy the fresh and probably somewhat tenuous reconciliation between the singer and guitarist Jerry Only, considering Only had very different sentiments after the first Riot Fest set in Denver:

“Whatever it takes. We’re going into our 40th anniversary so the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Eventually, Doyle’s got to write a new album; I’ve got to write a new album; Glenn’s got to write a new album. Why don’t we work together and make the greatest album ever? …I’ve got the band where it is today. So it’s a matter of remolding and using all the different elements that I’ve got.”

Whoops.

Well, we’ll see how this plays out – let’s just hope Danzig can rein in some of that aggression if the conversation gets heated, lest he once again finds himself at the wrong end of a physical altercation. Yes, I’ll find any excuse to watch this video again.
