"Danzig came out himself to punch and kick me."

From most reports, former Misfits singer and frontman of his eponymously titled band Glenn Danzig is sort of a dick. That’s partly why people are so fond of the infamous video in which he was spectacularly knocked out after escalating a disagreement with the frontman of little known hardcore band North Side Kings. Now, after years of aggressive behaviour, a Montreal fan is claiming the singer violently assaulted him after a show for taking photos.

It’s well documented that Danzig does not want you to take his picture. His enforcement of the no-photo policy has consisted of next-level douchery, ranging from an Axl-esque mid-set interruption to chase after a photographer at Bonnaroo to instructing his crowd to beat up an individual he caught filming. So there’s definitely precedent to support Montreal fan Neil Dalton’s claims.

However, wildly varying reports first cast a shadow of a doubt on the accusations. Initially, it seemed Dalton was alleging Danzig had his security team pull him up onstage where they proceeded to assault him:

An eyewitness confirmed that Danzig, on noticing the camera, challenged a man to get up on stage. However, they said the photographer did no such thing and was tossed out unceremoniously but apparently without further incident. Dalton then took to Facebook to clarify, basically saying the erroneous interpretation of his claim was due to terrible grammar: Danzig had in fact called him out, and the beating itself was a separate incident.

This version of events has been confirmed by an independent eyewitness as well.

While it’s doubtful Dalton was the picture of innocence as presented in his Facebook post, if these allegations prove to be true Danzig may actually be forced to look into some of that previously suggested anger management. Then again, probably not.
