Yes, there's a drop.

With the new Shrek movie reportedly still a ways away, soundtrack superstars Smash Mouth have had to find new ways to occupy their time. In the past, that’s meant hanging with Guy Fieri, crushing an inordinate amount of eggs or vehemently arguing with Twitter trolls, but finally, they’ve gone and blessed us with some new music.

Even less necessary than their David Bowie tribute is the news that the band of All Stars has now turned to EDM, sharing their new track, a collaboration with Specter, over the weekend.

Called “Love is a Soldier,” the song is immediately familiar to Smash Mouth… fans? From it’s driving bassline to Steve Harwell’s bellowing, hot sauce soaked howl, its surprisingly in line with the band’s imatable two-or-three song discography.

And then the drop hits.

Because in this time of tumult, uncertainty and horrifying violence, we all need a laugh. Today, that laugh is Smash Mouth going hard, going “down da down down” (real lyrics) to a track that sounds like it could just have easily have been written by Love Inc.

It makes sense: They told us we were superstars, and Smash Mouth told us we were all stars. After one listen to this, I’m a believer.

Thanks to Exclaim for the heads up. I think…
