Avert your ears, Rush fans.

Electronic duo DVBBS, created by brothers Alex and Chris Van den Hoef, have announced their latest collaboration, and they’re keeping things Canadian: they’ve reportedly gone into the studio with Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson to craft an EDM reimagining of the Toronto band’s 1977 hit, “Closer To The Heart.”

BroadwayWorld reports that the Van den Hoefs met with Rush’s manager, Ray Daniels, before lining things up with Lifeson, who they say will help “remake [the] song and implement new music and production.” They also praised the Holy Triumvirate as “the greatest Canadian band of all time.”

Though it might seem an unlikely partnership, Lifeson and his bandmates have had a career-long affair with electronics and technology. RUSH’s elaborate, intricate gear set-ups have been debated and drooled over by fan boys for years, and electric augmentation has coloured the band’s discography. So maybe they have more in common in DVBBS than we thought.

The song will be available in early 2017. If you’re still a little cheesed by this collaboration, just remember that ALL THIS MACHINERY MAKING MODERN MUSIC CAN STILL BE OPEN-HEARTED!
