This DJ was caught watching soccer on his phone during his set

When you think of the word ‘Europe’, what image pops into your head? Extremely photogenic towns featuring castles in the background? Newly-independent fuzzy-hatted guards with limited senses of humour? How about German techno DJ Sven Väth surreptitiously watching soccer football on his smartphone while spinning to a festival crowd? “Too on-the-nose”, you say?

Väth was photographed performing to a crowd of thousands at Netherlands electronic festival Awakenings last weekend. When photographer and Facebook user Mr. After Party (note: likely not his real name) uploaded his shots, he noticed that Väth may not have been 100% focused on the party…because he was watching Germany torch Slovakia 3-0 during their Euro 2016 match on his smartphone, which was perched on the mixer throughout his set.

Check out the photos below, and try not to be too hard on Väth for not keeping his attention fully on the vibe, as befits a DJ. He’s European, after all, trying to keep them from watching soccer while DJ’ing techno is harder than keeping us from freaking out about Subban. P.K.! Nooooo!
