Dearly beloved, Prince has passed away at age 57.

Some heartbreaking news is being reported out of Minnesota. Prince Rogers Nelson has died at age 57.

An absolute musical genius known for his virtuoso talent, genre-melting vision and supreme live performance skill, Prince has been revered as a music legend for decades and held up as a symbol of what an artist with an uncompromising vision could accomplish. His career was one stuffed with iconic albums, incredible moments and useful information about Lake Minnetonka. Ugh, why did Prince have to leave us?

According to TMZ‘s report on the passing, the cause of death has not yet been confirmed. Prince was found at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota with initial reports simply stating there was a fatality at the location. Those reports would later update to include word of Prince’s death.

The Associated Press received confirmation from the musician’s publicist of Prince’s death.

Speculation about Prince’s health had rampant of late. The Sign “O” the Times visionary had been hospitalized on Friday, but would later be spotted cycling with a dance party on the agenda on Saturday night. Prince was said to be sick with the flu when he was in dealing with that much scrutinized emergency hospital visit.

We’ll obviously have more details and reflection on Prince’s death as time passes. For now, it’s time to put on whatever Prince albums you need to get through the rest of the week.
