Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins isn't happy about it.

Your reaction to this bit of news will depend on a trio of factors.

  1. Do you have any feelings about Foo Fighters?
  2. Do you have any feelings about Dave Grohl’s relationship with Foo Fighters?
  3. Do you consider the New York Post‘s Page Six gossip trough to be gospel?

Have you had a good think about it? (Don’t lie to us. We’re just a bit of writing on the internet) Alright, let’s proceed.

DAVE GROHL IS (maybe) LEAVING FOO FIGHTERS TO GO SOLO.

That’s Page Six‘s report on it, anyhow. They claim Grohl and Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins aren’t getting along at all and it stems from a planned hiatus.

“The band is billing it as a ‘break,’ but it’s totally Dave going solo, and Taylor is pissed about it,” a source told us.

Escándalo! Mind you, the Page Six includes another source that dismisses the earlier claim as bullshit. “Completely untrue” were the words used by the other source who also smacked down claims of bad blood.

A rep for the band talked to Entertainment Weekly about Page Six‘s Dave going Grohlo story and was in no mood to give it any play. The gossip was slammed as “utterly ridiculous” by the spokesperson, although they did not note what Grohl or the band would be up to in 2016.

Don’t fret. It looks like the Foos themselves might be offering their own answer to this bit of chatter. Did someone say “Official Band Announcement?” SO MYSTERIOUS!

What if they announce they’re all co-owning an Olive Garden? Boy, this whole build-up would be silly, wouldn’t it.

Grohl going solo for a project doesn’t seem too nutty on our end. He’s done things with roughly 68 million bands either as a side-project or a helping hand (plus his rap career), so the risk of the Foos being killed off to reform at Space Coachella in 2050 seems pretty low. Heck, Taylor Hawkins even put together his own side-project The Birds of Satan that’s been kicking around for a while.

We’re not saying it’s unthinkable Grohl will put out a solo album or the Foos will take a bit of a break, but this whole thing might be a bit overblown.
