His war begins in the closet.

Ever since December 2014, artist and Black Flag mega-fan (or, more accurately, mega-fan of one particular sludgy, slow Black Flag album) Yuichiro Tamaki of Tokyo has been wearing a classic My War T-shirt. These tees in multiple variations depict Raymond Pettibon’s iconic album art of the menacing knife-wielding puppet.

Yuichiro’s “Wear the “MY WAR” shirt everyday” Instagram is still going strong almost year after its inception, and Tamaki doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. As there aren’t that many official My War shirt designs circulating out there, it’s a safe bet that Tamaki has access to a screen printer and crafts his own hardcore habiliments.

To honour this dedicated display of punk superfandom/conceptual art project, let’s take a look at some of Tamaki’s best ensembles over the past year. “Loose Nut” that belongs in a “Padded Cell” or just “Society’s Tease”? You be the judge.
