Could this coincide with the 30th anniversary of Appetite for Destruction in 2017?

In a candid interview for Alternative Nation, former Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver singer and current Wildabouts frontman Scott Weiland added to the rumours of a classic-era GnR reunion.

When asked for memories of his Velvet Revolver bandmates being offered hundreds of millions of dollars (and a letter he wrote to Axl Rose calling him “a wig wearing fuck”), Weiland responded with some unconfirmed insider info:

“I remember a little bit about it,” he said. “There was a little going back and forth between the two of us at the time, but I think that Guns N’ Roses are getting back together.”

“We’ve heard rumors,” echoed Wildabouts bassist Tommy Black.

“I think Slash is actually a bigger star right now than Axl,” Weiland continues to joke. “He’s the hat.”

The same interview also delivered an unexpected scoop on Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington leaving Stone Temple Pilots after he replaced Weiland in 2013. “He’s not in the band any more.” said Scott. “[Chester’s] got a band where he gets paid $700,000 a night with, and with STP, the brand is kind of falling apart, which is a shame.”

Bennington’s departure was later confirmed in a statement from the band/brand.

So is anyone clamouring for a Guns ‘N Roses reunion? All signs point to yes, and their influence continues to be felt in unlikely places. In another recent interview for Sirius XM, Coldplay singer Chris Martin says the guitar riff from their new song “Adventure of a Lifetime” was inspired by GnR’s “Sweet Child o’ Mine.”
