Brian absolutely slayed "Tom Sawyer."

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has made no secret of his love for Canadian prog titans Rush, regularly covering their tunes in concert and even inviting lead singer Geddy Lee’s mom to rock out with his own at their recent Toronto stop. And while Grohl was comfortable letting a fan drum to their chill early hit “Big Me,” one would figure he’d be pretty wary having a random come up and potentially butcher the impossibly high vocals in one of his favourite Rush tunes.

Well, that mountain air drifting in from the Rockies must’ve given Grohl a case of the happies, because he decided to do just that last night in Edmonton. Answering the call was local field service technician Brian Roberts – and while nobody would every peg him as having perfect pitch, he did get up there on some of those notes to the point where Grohl was giddy with joy.

To the surprise of no one, Roberts later told media outlets that he’s “sung that song in karaoke so many frickin’ times.” That dude in an Edmonton bar crushing a poutine and a Big Rock between karaoke sets = Canada.
