"Never say never."

Slash: Guitar shredder, hair farmer, top hat enthusiast, elephant rights activist?

In a new interview with CBS This Morning, the former Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver riff-wielder shared some info about the “strong message” (quote: CBS) behind the eight-minute infomercial-style video for the song “Beneath the Savage Sun” from his new band Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. Filmed in collaboration with the International Fund for Animal Welfare, its generic butt-rock chug sets the backdrop for lyrics sung from the POV of an elephant who has lost a loved one. “How many killing seasons can you justify? How many dead and bleeding / Only for an ivory lie?”

Following this impassioned chat, the morning news hosts asked Slash the inevitable question about a reunion with the original GNR line-up. His answer has inspired some excited discussion in the band’s official fan forum, as Slash stated simply: “Never say never.” He said there is “no animosity” between him and the other band members, and they were truly just tired of “the black cloud” surrounding a break-up that was “less than harmonious.” On Axl Rose: “Well, we haven’t really talked in a long time, but a lot of the tension that you were talking about has dissipated. We don’t have all those issues anymore. It’s not a lot of controversy. It’s something that is more perpetuated by the media, more than anything.”

Could the dream become a reality?
