News that Dave Grohl would be drumming on Queens of the Stone Age’s new album was a welcomed and wonderful surprise, but now he’s taken the new up a notch revealing an even bigger (and bitchier) guest spot for the band’s new album: Elton John.
The big reveal came on Chelsea Lately, which Grohl has been guest hosting for the past few days. John said he went to record with the band after a session with Engelbert Humperdink, calling the transition “a bit of a mindfuck.”
“I love that band so much, and I love Them Crooked Vultures with Josh [Homme],” said John, who made it a point to remember that he was on the last Alice in Chains record.
“It was really a great track. It very complicated because I’m a piano player and guitar bands play differently,” he explained before making chugging noises with his mouth. “And it was in B, which is a pianists nightmare.”
That’s the whole interview up top, but if you haven’t been keeping track, that means the new Queens of the Stone Age album now features Mark Lanegan, Nick Oliveri, Jake Shears, Elton John and Dave Grohl, who seems to love working with old dudes these days.
