There’s a lot to be said about the power of music, and Spinner reports today that Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” was enough to wake a 7-year-old girl from what was thought to be an inescapable coma.

As the story goes, Charlotte Neve suffered a brain haemorrhage that had doctors preparing the family for the worst. Then one day Adele’s smash single came on the radio and Neve’s mother started to sing. Out of nowhere, Charlotte started to smile.

“The nurses were astounded and told me to keep singing, and she smiled again,” said Charlotte’s mother, Leila. “The nurses said it was like I ‘unlocked her’ and from that day she started getting better and better.”

The report goes onto say that she’s now at home resting, recovering and learning to talk again.
