Adele and Rihanna featured on TIME's List of the 100 Most Influential People in the World

Yesterday, TIME Magazine revealed their annual list of the 100 Most Influential People In The World. The list includes a diverse array of people who have had an impact over the past year, including Jeremy Lin, Kristen Wiig, Tim Cook and Pippa Middleton.

The list also featured two of the most popular female pop stars in the world right now — Adele and Rihanna.

Adele is no real surprise. She won 6 GRAMMY awards, and her album 21 was declared the highest selling album of the 21st century, selling over 21 million records and basically extending the life of the dying major label recording industry by 1000%.

Rihanna is a bit of a surprise — does she get placement on the list because of her controversial on-again off-again flings with abusive ex Chris Brown?

There’s no denying the influence of these two pop superstars.

Fashion designer Stella McCartney had this to say about Rihanna in the TIME 100 writeup: “Rihanna, 24, goes out of her way to support the people she believes in. She is one of the few people I know in that world of fame and celebrity who aren’t all about themselves. She’ll give a real part of herself to an ordinary person she may meet, and that’s rare.”

P!nk tackled Adele’s TIME 100 writeup, and had this to say about the singer: “Turn on any radio station in the world and you will probably hear Adele. Go to Mars right now and I’m pretty sure if there is life on that planet, they’re playing Adele. And for good reason.”
