Download Bobby Womack's new single, "Please Forgive My Heart"

Aside from the occasional collaboration, soul legend Bobby Womack’s been largely silent for the better part of the past two decades. But earlier the 68 year old singer made a move to burst back into the scene, announcing The Bravest Man In The Universe (that’s its album art up top), his hew album produced by frequent collaborator Damon Albarn and XL label boss Richard Russell.

If the big name help behind the scenes isn’t enough to excite fans for his big come back, first single “Please Forgive My Heart” should do the trick, blending a modern, electronic back beat with Womack’s heart-wrenching vocals. Listen to (and download) “Please Forgive My Heart” below, and look out for the album when it hits stores on June 12th via XL records. Just a heads up though: Pitchfork reports that there’ll be a Lana Del Rey guest spot on the album.
