Not that it’s a surprise given that he’s made a career out of hating everything, but Corey Taylor had some less than generous things to say about working producer Rick Rubin.

When asked at a recent Q&A how it was working with Rubin, the Slipknot and Stone Sour singer launched into a pretty telling story about Rubin’s work-ethic (or implied lack-thereof). According to Taylor, Rubin would only show up for 45 minutes each week to “lay on a couch and have a mic brought in next to his face so he wouldn’t have to fuckin’ move” and “stroke his huge beard and try to get as much food out of it as he could” before asking the band to “play it again.”

So, basically, Slipknot’s experiences working with Rubin (on 2004’s Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)) were less than stellar.

Taylor continues, noting that while he respects the work Rubin has done in the past, “the Rick Rubin of today is a thin, thin, thin shadow of the Rick Rubin that he was.”

“He’s overrated, overpaid and I will never work with him again,” adds Taylor.
