"It’s all a godd*** popularity contest, and I don’t have f*****g time for that s***."

Everybody’s favourite crotchety masked grandpa under 45 is at it again. Slipknot just received their tenth (10th!!!) Grammy Award nomination and will be vying for Best Metal Performance this year with their song “Custer.” Much like the honey badger though, Corey Taylor don’t give a shit.

In an interview with Finland’s Radio Rock, Taylor made sure he laid out exactly how he felt about the nomination and the Grammys in general:

“We’ve been nominated now, like… God knows how many times. It’s been over 10 times. We won once… Cool. It’s a popularity contest; that’s all it is. If it weren’t, if it were just about the music, you would see more metal bands — not including us — nominated in other categories, like ‘Album Of The Year’ [and] all of these different categories, and you just don’t. So it’s all a goddamn popularity contest, and I don’t have fucking time for that shit, to be honest.”

This isn’t the first time Slipknot members have pooh-poohed the awards. Taylor and guitarist Jim Root took great pleasure in discussing plans to use their Grammys won in 2006 as doorstops and toilet paper rolls.
