Following in the footsteps of Jeff Mangum, Talib Kweli stopped by the Occupy Wall Street protests last night to perform a new politically inclined spoken word piece called “Distraction.”

Once his camera men got what he needed the Brooklyn born rapper stuck around to hang out with the protesters before jumping into his hit “Thieves of the Night,” which he rapped with the assistance of the crowd. Because obviously there’d be a bongo at a protest, right?

The best part happens at the end, though, when after a brief cameo from the delightfully weird Hasselhoff-ian drummer, the crowd bursts into a chant-along speech conducted by Kweli. Say what you will about him bringing his own camera crew to the protests, but the guy can certainly rile a crowd. Watch his performance up top. [via Prefix]
