PJ Harvey’s been racking up accolades all year thanks to Let England Shake and last night (or today? Time zones are tricky) she added to the mantle when the album won England’s Mercury Prize, which celebrates the top English album of the year. With the win, Harvey becomes the first two-time winner of the prestigious, Polaris-like prize.

“This album took me a long time write. It was very important to me, I wanted to make something that was meaningful not just for myself but for other people, hopefully to make something that would last,” said Harvey after winning the award.

Other shortlist nominees included Tinie Tempah’s Disc-Over, James Blake’s self-titled debut and Adele’s 21, which by the way has officially surpassed the ten million sales mark as of this week. [via SKoA]
