Dave Grohl recently told BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe that the forthcoming Foo Fighters album is being produced by Butch Vig and will feature a guest appearance on bass from former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic.

“This whole project has been really cool. I haven’t made a record with Butch for 20 years,” Grohl said, as Vig was at the helm for Nirvana’s sophomore smash Nevermind, released in 1991.

The band have completed seven songs, according to Grohl, “with five or six more we’re gonna do.” Thus far they’ve been recording the tracks in a garage, “totally old school analogue.”

Calling it their heaviest record yet, the band are documenting the whole process for a film due out sometime next year. “Basically 2011 you’re not gonna be able to get us out of your hair, that’s what we’re planning,” Grohl added. “I’m excited.” [BBC]
