This morning's new music news; English rockers Supergrass break up, former Chili Peppers' guitarist John Frusciante named greatest guitarist of the last 30 years and details of a new LP from Steve Aoki.

English band Supergrass have called it quits after a 17-year career spanning six studio albums. The band, set to play four farewell shows in June, were working on a new album, but no details have come out regarding its release. “We still love each other but, cliché notwithstanding, musical differences have led to us moving on and of course we all wish each other well in the future,” explained the band in a statement. According to BBC 6 Music listeners, former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante tops the list of the greatest guitarists of the past 30 years. Frusciate received 13.9% of the vote while runner up Slash had 10.3%. Matt Bellamy, Johnny Marr and Tom Morello rounded out the top 5. [BBC]

And Steve Aoki’s forthcoming LP will feature several collaborations both new and old. “With my album I’m doing a couple of different tracks with some familiar voices,” Aoki said. “Zuper Blahq, Kid Cudi, Lil Jon, Weezer, Black Star, Uffie, Sky Ferreira … just mixing it up with some hip-hop vocals, rock vocals, house vocals. So yeah, it should be interesting.” [MTV]
