This morning in music news; former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante is teams up with Mars Volta's Omar Rodriquez-Lopez for a new album, and We Are Scientists announce a release date for their new single.

Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante and the Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez have released a collaborative album. The release is comprised of seven instrumental tracks and can be downloaded for free from their website. A CD and Vinyl copy are due out sometime later this year. [Exclaim!]

We Are Scientists have announced the release date for their new single “Nice Guys” off their fourth studio album Barbara. The single will be released on June 7 with the album to follow a week later. The band will be playing shows in the UK this summer including T In The Park and the Reading and Leeds Festivals. [NME]
