The reunited horror punks play two headlining slots at this year's Riot Fest.

Cheer up, boys and ghouls: looks like we’re getting one last caress from the fiend club after all. Glenn Danzig has announced he’ll be singing with his original band, The Misfits, onstage for two headlining slots at this year’s edition of Riot Fest.

Come September, Danzig and longtime Misfits bassist/erstwhile bandleader Jerry Only will be playing together, along with the band’s third original guitarist (and Only’s younger brother) Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, née Paul Caiafa. There’s no word yet on who will be sitting behind the skins… the human skins! Our guess: a werewolf! Or Robo… it’ll probably be Robo.

This will be the first time in 33 years that Danzig, Doyle, and Only have been onstage performing together. The reunion is especially notable because relations between Danzig and Only have been positively ghastly at times. Legally ghastly, that is. The pair have regularly been fighting courtroom battles over merchandising rights to the band’s iconography, with the last update coming in 2014, when a judge tossed out Danzig’s case that Only had made “secret deals” with retailers allowing them to sell products branded with the ubiquitous Misfits logo. Yes, Hot Topic was named.

Anyway, hopefully the two Riot Fest performances in Denver (September 2-4) and Chicago (September 16-18) go off without a hitch, and don’t descend into Green Hell, a.k.a. vicious arguments about money. Or worse, be mistaken for the Misfats, which is a very real possibility after 30+ years.

Anyone versed in the occult shouldn’t be surprised by news of the reunion. As the dark prophecy states, when the blood moon hangs low and the planets are aligned, the evil emperor of New Jersey, Danzig, will emerge from his crypt for an easy payday. Even ghouls have to buy kitty litter like the rest of us:
