Leaked emails show Dr. Luke shaming Kesha over her weight

Kesha backs up her claims of abuse from Dr. Luke with damning email evidence.
Legal proceedings between Kesha and her former producer Dr. Luke are still ongoing, and now Kesha’s team has obtained and released emails sent between Dr. Luke and Kesha’s manager Monica Cornia, in an effort to further prove her case that Luke was mentally, as well as physically, abusive. The emails show Dr. Luke criticizing Kesha’s weight and generally being excessively controlling and dismissive.
In one email, Luke says that “A-list songwriters and producers are reluctant to give Kesha their songs because of her weight,” as well as detailing the “many times we have all witnessed her breaking her diet plan.” At one point, Cornia asks Luke to remember that Kesha is “a human and not a machine,” to which Luke replies, “if she were a machine that would be way cool and we could do whatever we want.”
An email exchange from 2012 concerns Luke clashing with Kesha over the choice of lyrics for what would become “Crazy Kids,” eventually telling her “I don’t give a shit what you want. If you were smart you would go in and sing it.” Afterwards, according to Cornia, Luke “refused to come downstairs (“she wears the pants in MY house?”) so we left.”
In court papers filed this week, Kesha’s attorney writes that the artist wants to “be free from her abuser and rebuild her physical, emotional, and mental health,” and emails like these certainly make the point that working with Luke sounds like a emotionally abusive nightmare…and Luke’s legal team knows it, as Dr. Luke’s lawyer, Christine Lepera, has addressed the emails in a statement. In the statement, Lepera says that “Kesha and her representatives improperly publicized, without Court permission, three out-of-context emails which do not present the full picture regarding the events they concern.” According to Lepera, the emails “do not show that the lyrics of “Crazy Kids” were, in fact, rewritten at Kesha’s request,” and that the correspondences in question show “the tremendous support that Dr. Luke provided Kesha regarding artistic and personal issues, including Kesha’s own concerns over her weight.”
“Any claim by Kesha to the contrary is deceiving the public-just like her other meritless claims of wrongdoing by Dr. Luke,” the statement says. Both parties are scheduled for a telephone conference with the judge next week.
