Dr. Luke and Kesha have amended their lawsuits and will reappear in court this week.

It’s now been over two years since Kesha first sued producer Lukasz Gottwald, aka Dr. Luke, alleging that he sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally abused her throughout their working relationship. The case has gone back and forth through the courts in since the first suit filed against Luke in 2014, but now the case has taken yet another turn.

Yesterday, both parties’ lawyers asked for their respective lawsuits to be amended, with Dr. Luke now wanting to take action against Kesha for defamation over an alleged text she sent to Lady Gaga about Luke’s sexual assault of another, unnamed female artist. “Specifically, Kesha told Lady Gaga that ‘she [the other artist] was raped by the same man’ as Kesha,” says the filing, with Luke claiming that ever since Kesha had her case thrown out in a New York courtroom back in April, she’s been spreading defaming and untrue stories to the media in an attempt to get Gottwald blacklisted from the music industry.

In her filing, Kesha is once again asking to be released from her contractual obligation to Dr. Luke. “Kesha asks for something far more basic: the freedom to make music without being bound indefinitely to the very producer who subjected her to years of abuse and continues that abuse to this day,” write her legal team. Kesha claims she still owed money from Luke, including royalties from her feature appearance on Pitbull’s “Timber” back in 2013, and that Dr. Luke is attacking her finances in retaliation for taking him to court.

Both Dr. Luke and Kesha will be giving depositions to the court this week, with Dr. Luke attempting to prove his career has suffered financially as a result of Kesha’s allegations, so expect yet another chapter to the unending and depressing legal saga to be written very soon.
