We're actually pretty excited for Lady Metaligaga.

Fresh off her satanic ritual/Super Bowl halftime performance, which was either an inoffensive string of hits or the most politicized public display of all time depending on who you ask, Lady Gaga will be performing with Metallica at this year’s Grammy Awards.

On February 12th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Gaga will be singing an unspecified song with the metal heroes, who are nominated for Best Rock Performance for the song “Hardwired” off their latest album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. It appears that Metallica will be in need of a singer for the show, as they a said in a Facebook post last week that James Hetfield is under “strict doctor’s orders” not to sing a note for the next little while due to health problems. That being said, it appears their show in Copenhagen is on for tonight, so the jury’s still out on if we’ll get a televised Hetfield/Gaga duet.

In her myriad interviews over the years, Gaga’s always maintained she has a great love for classic metal acts like Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden, with Rob Halford of Judas Priest reciprocating the respect. Halford’s expressed interest in the past in collaborating with Gaga, and validated her as a metalhead. And of course, there’s always this. Also worth noting: early on in her music career, Gaga sang in a Led Zeppelin tribute band, so don’t doubt that we’ll hear some serious metal wailing on Feb. 12th, alongside other confirmed performers such as Daft Punk, Katy Perry, and John Legend, all of whom almost certainly have never sung along to Kill ‘Em All.
