Addicted To Porn: Chasing The Cardboard Butterfly is out this spring.

Already no stranger to unwieldy metaphors, Metallica’s James Hetfield is now lending his powerful pipes to an anti-porn documentary called Addicted To Porn: Chasing The Cardboard Butterfly. Hm, never heard pornography referred to as a “cardboard butterfly” before, but maybe I’m just out of touch.

Hetfield is narrating the doc, which attempts to analyze and explain the global impact online pornography addiction has on individuals and society at large. This is writer-director Justin Hunt’s fourth documentary and fifth overall feature, as well as his second time working with Hetfield: he previously interviewed the singer for his doc Absent, which discusses the issue of absent father.

Addicted to Porn attempts to argue that the modern ease of access to pornography, coupled with a lack of education on the topic, leads to porn addiction and then damaged and dysfunctional relationships. Bringing Hetfield onboard to narrate was probably an easy choice, since “damaged and dysfunctional relationships” is pretty much the lyrical content of every single Metallica song.

Addicted to Porn will be released on VOD this April, so get your porn viewing in before it drops and you feel guilty about it.
