Bono is the first man to be honoured as a Glamour Woman of the Year.

Turns out, Bono really is everywhere, and this time he’s not just photobombing wedding photos or being a papal contender: he’s been honoured as one of Glamour magazine’s Women of the Year.

Usually the exclusive province of high-achieving owners of two X chromosomes, Glamour decided to grant Bono the gender-specific honour in recognition of his activist work on ONE’s “Poverty is Sexist” campaign and fighting for gender equality in general.

“We’ve talked for years about whether to honor a man at Women of the Year and we’ve always kind of put the kabash on it. You know, men get a lot of awards and aren’t exactly hurting in the celebration and honors department,” said Glamour editor-in-chief Cindi Leive. “But it started to seem that that might be an outdated way of looking at things, and there are so many men who really are doing wonderful things for women these days. Some men get it and Bono is one of those guys.”

Bono joins Glamour’s other 2016 honourees, including fashion designer Miuccia Prada, IMF chief Christine Lagarde, ISIS kidnapping survivor Nadia Murad, Black Lives Matter activists Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi, and model and body activist Ashley Graham. But can any of them nail the chorus of “Pride (In The Name of Love)” night after night? I don’t think so.
