Even though no one asked him to, American Bad Ass and Confederate flag apologist Kid Rock chimes in on the Colin Kaepernick controversy.

Kid Rock, a guy from Michigan who has been outspoken for his love of the Confederate flag, has sadly and predictably inserted himself into the controversy surrounding San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who has the temerity to exercise his First Amendment rights.

Performing in Boston last night, Kid Rock — a dude named Rob who has made tens of millions of dollars by combining the worst parts of rap and country music with an isotope of patriotism comprised entirely of hot dogs, TruckNutz, and polyester American flags purchased at Walmart — said, seemingly apropos of nothing, “Fuck Colin Kaepernick.”

Head about 0:50 into the video to hear him say it.

The crowd roared because of course they did. These are people who paid money to see Kid Rock, a guy who “could care less about what people think,” and likely that people think.

In late August, Kaepernick jumpstarted a(nother) national conversation on racism and police brutality in the United States by choosing to sit during the national anthem before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour,” he explained in a postgame interview. “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Because America is America, the most predictable people said (and continue to say) the dumbest, most predictable things in response to this peaceful protest that hurts no one. You know the things. They’re the Greatest Hits of bad hot takes that would be included here were they not so noxious as to constitute a public health risk.  [h/t Deadspin]
