Sadly, the strange creature escaped into his Escalade before he could be captured.

It’s true: play Pokémon Go, and you will discover bizarre monsters in your area.

The hyper-popular augmented reality app, which finally launched in Canada yesterday, shows no signs of slowing down. Case in point: when a rare Gyarados spawned at an Apple Store in New York around 12:30AM this morning, hundreds of Pokéfanatics rushed to capture the elusive serpent.

In their rush to secure the beast and avoid having to keep a D-tier ‘mon like Magikarp around, though, the P-goers missed an even greater catch: among the horde of prospective trainers was one Justin D. Bieber, and his entourage of bodyguards.

Quick, somebody catch that Chimchar!

According to Redditor ‘stalkertuesday‘, people were so engrossed in their screens that nobody noticed Biebs joining the hunt, and before anyone could roll a Pokéball his way, he’d escaped with his cadre back into his Escalade.

In any case, Bieber isn’t the only Pokémaniac among the ranks of bad boy singers. Keep an eye out to capture Kevin Richardson the next time a Deoxys spawns.
