Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne are splitting up

After 33 years of marital bliss tolerance, the first couple of metal / ugly yappy dogs are calling it quits. That’s right, Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne are reportedly splitting up, an event which anyone who watched reality TV circa 2002-2005 could probably tell you has been a long time coming. Guy from 2002: “No! Not the stars of my favourite MTV show! I think that funny-voiced man did music once too.”

According to E News, a source close to the couple said that Ozzy would be moving out of the house temporarily, and that the couple’s marital difficulties are not due to any issues with his sobriety level. The unnamed source said Ozzy’s been completely sober for over three years, and hasn’t touched drugs or alcohol during that time.

Rumours of divorce have surrounded the couple since 2013, when tabloids were getting a lot of mileage out of reporting on Ozzy’s alleged alcohol and drug abuse. At the time, Sharon said on her daytime series The Talk that “everything that has been printed in the tabloids has been distorted.”

Ozzy first met Sharon in the 1970s, when Black Sabbath were on the rise and being heralded as the world’s premiere purveyors of heavy metal. Sharon later became Black Sabbath’s manager and helped to found the Ozzfest tour, which did much to revive both her husband’s flagging cultural relevance in the ’90s and dreadlock acceptability.
