Montage of Blecch.

Popular recording artist Justin Bieber popped by Seattle as part of his Purpose World Tour and that included your standard “let me address something I know about this particular metro area” nod. “He knows about our [popular thing from area], this feels so real!” you squeal as the act you came to see points out that they’ve heard of something related to your town.

So what did The Biebs do to show his love for Seattle? He put together a “grunge” ensemble with flannel, ripped jeans, and a t-shirt featuring Kurt Cobain on the front. It’s the sort of thing people get irrationally angry about despite the fact that it’s not that nuts that a 22-year-old would think of a long dead rock guy as part of his fashion arsenal. Sorry oldos, he may look like a doofus trying this shit out, but it’s not your world anymore.

Cutting the dude some slack aside, there was a pretty cringeworthy spot where Bieber trotted out “Love Yourself” in a budget version of Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged set. The rendition’s not half-bad, it just looks a bit goofy is all. Either go balls-to-the-walls in set design or trim it out, Justin. The upside? The sweet girl that apologizes during this fan-shot video for stumbling over the lyrics. Sing whatever you like! You paid the ticket, go buckwild.

We look forward to seeing Shawn Mendes trotting out his all-star tribute to TAD in 2018.
