Rick The Temp is joining the Edge 102.1 morning show

The former MuchMusic VJ is coming soon to an alarm clock near you.
Finally, a steady gig for Rick the Temp! What? Oh, right. Well, that doesn’t count.
Rick Campanelli, a.k.a. Rick The Temp, VJ Rick, and, to a generation of hair gel manufacturers, “The Promised One”, has announced he’ll be joining Toronto’s Edge 102.1 radio station as an on-air personality with the Fred & Mel morning show.
Starting June 27th, Toronto-area listeners will be able to hear Campanelli’s valuable input on everything from snot colours to “what movie scared you as you kid?” Rick Campanelli: “The Host was really hair-raising.” Yeah, I’ll say he was.
For anyone understandably freaked out that this will mean the end of Campanelli’s delightful repartees with celebs, don’t worry: Rick will be continuing his co-hosting duties on ET Canada somehow, even as he gets up, cursing, at 3 a.m. every morning to talk about vital issues, like how Mel does too many shots.
“I’ve been a huge fan of the Edge my whole life,” said Campanelli of his new gig. “This is definitely a dream come true – even if I have to sit beside Fred every morning. It’s a good thing Mel is in the room too!”
*Uncomfortable silence, someone coughs*
