It happens to the best of us.

After three decades of shouting at the devil, kickstarting hearts, and other debauched nonsense, Mötley Crüe decided to call it quits this year with a farewell tour. The grand finale took place on New Year’s Eve at LA’s Staples Center (‘natch) and offered the world a very late contender for the most Spın̈al Tap-esque moment of 2015 when Tommy Lee got trapped on his drum rollercoaster.

What’s that, you ask? Well, each night Lee slowly soars over the crowd as he and his drum kit are suspended in a custom coaster track (a.k.a. “The Crüecifly”). While rolling and looping at the average speed of your grandparents’ electronic stairlift, he solos over a medley of songs including “King Kunta” and “Uptown Funk.” The Crüecifly has actually existed in various forms for years, and sometimes he even invites fans along for the ride.

Sadly, it came to a halt at the group’s final show, leaving Lee hanging upside down above concertgoers as Crüe crew members scrambled to help him out. With his mic turned on, the drummer exclaimed “fuck the rollercoaster” while urging concertgoers (male and female) to flash him, then stating that he was ready to “party his balls off.” Watch a pair of videos of the motley mishap below:
