"New NIN coming in 2016. Other stuff, too."

Industrial beefcake Trent Reznor has kept busy since the release of Nine Inch Nails’ 2013 album Hesitation Marks, collaborating with Atticus Ross on the Gone Girl soundtrack, working in a bigwig creative role at Apple Music, touring with Soundgarden, scoring a nomination (but no induction) for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, sending out a cease and desist to some hip Alberta politicians, and possibly staging a Fight Club rock opera with director David Fincher.

Now, he’s announced that NIN will return with new music (and other stuff) next year:

“It’s not a record I’m trying to finish in a month,” Reznor told Rolling Stone. “It’s more just feeling around in the dark and seeing what sounds interesting. It’s nice to do that every few years to try and reinvent and discover and try to learn about yourself and what feels exciting to you as an artist.”

If the “other stuff” he mentioned is anything like the 320-page, $300 art book in an edition of 2,000 the band recently released to accompany Hesitation Marks, we hope they have better luck selling it.
