Music class in Germany is on another level.

I think the coolest, most culturally resonant song we ever covered in elementary school music class was a recorder version of “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” Obviously, the awesomeness of our music classrooms can’t hold a candle to Germany’s, in particular Lemmchen Elementary School, where instead of plinking out “Itsy Bitsy Spider” ad nauseam, kids get to do a sweet xylophone cover of Kraftwerk’s “Die Roboten” and then make a music video replete with cardboard robot costumes.

WARNING: May cause cuteness overload.

Ugh, I’m jealous. All we got with Mr. Gracey was a version of “Mary Had A Little Lamb” with additional “baas” at the end. Anyway, compare/contrast with the real Kraftwerk song below. Sorry kids, but in the opinion of this ‘Werk fan, you didn’t really capture the soulless plod of automation of the original. Yours is definitely cuter though!
