Metallica and Black Sabbath are "jokes" and rap is for "tone-deaf people." OOOH.

As Spin notes, Keith Richards is 71 years old. The septuagenarian Rolling Stones guitarist is gearing up to release his first solo album in a few decades, and has been gracing news outlets with some outspoken opinions rivalling David Crosby and Donald Trump for the Old Man Yells at Cloud Award™ of 2015.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor said modern rock “sounds like a dull thud.” He then sounded off on metal, spouting the pull quote that “Millions are in love with Metallica and Black Sabbath. I just thought they were great jokes.”

Hey, why not ask him about hip-hop while they’re at it? Keef clearly has deep crates and nuanced thoughts. “What rap did that was impressive was to show there are so many tone-deaf people out there. All they need is a drum beat and somebody yelling over it and they’re happy. There’s an enormous market for people who can’t tell one note from another.”

Captain Jack Sparrow’s dad isn’t letting his own generation off the hook either. In an earlier interview with Esquire, he described Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band as a “mishmash of rubbish.” As always, it’s best to take all of this with a grain of salt, because Richards also called Their Satanic Majesties Request “a load of shit.”
