The award honours the four best Canadian albums of the past four decades.

It isn’t just Canadian albums released this year being recognized at this year’s Polaris gala. Starting this year, the Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize annually honours four albums from the four decades before Polaris was established in 2006. Just like the Polaris Music Prize, winners and nominees for the Heritage Prize are albums of the highest artistic quality, without regards to sales, labels, or other affiliations.

Anyone can cast their vote for one of the albums from each time period, and voting will remain open until October 5th. Think Maestro Fresh-Wes deserves the nod over Glenn Gould? Was The Teaches of Peaches superior to Arcade Fire’s Funeral? Let the world know where you stand and vote for your selections here. Votes can only be cast once, so anyone thinking of clicking all day for Bran Van 3000 will be out of luck.

Here’s the full list of nominees:

1960s and 1970s:

The Band – Music From Big Pink
Robert Charlebois & Louise Forestier – Lindberg
Leonard Cohen – Songs Of Leonard Cohen
Joni Mitchell – Blue
Jackie Shane – Live!

1980s:
