The latest Kanye petition went straight to the White House.

In the mood for a new Kanye West album? Disappointed that SWISH seems to be taking ages (read: a little bit of time) to come out? Why not reach out to the President of the United States and see what he can do?

A recent White House petition has demanded that U.S. President Barack Obama “order” Nori’s dad to release his new album this month. Y’know, like Eisenhower was forced by petition to demand a new episode of The Lawrence Welk Show in 1957. (Legal Note: Not true!)

“Kanye West has kept us thirsty for too long,” proclaims the petition. “We haven’t gotten any new singles in months. The President should order Ye to drop the album on the date August 21st, as his producer Mike Dean has been teasing people about.”

The petition was hosted on that magical White House site that requires Obama’s administration to respond to all petitions that have reached over 100,000 signatures within 30 days. Billboard reports that the Mandatory SWISH petition notched tens of thousands of signatures before being shut down on Wednesday for violating terms of participation.

We did get something recently resembling SWISH completion date news. Mike Dean (the producer/mixer mentioned in the petition) told Montreality that the album’s “in progress.” He’s going into the studio next week to help finish it.

“Whenever Kanye says it’s done, it’s done,” he offers. “It’ll be out soon.”

Do with that what you will.
