The serious sentence is the court's attempt to deter future hacking.

Was Madonna’s last album really worth leaking? Nope, and the guy that released hacked Madonna tracks into the world is facing a stiff sentence for his crime.

Adi Lederman, a thirtysomething aspiring singer from Tel Aviv, has been sentenced to 14 months in prison and a fine of roughly $3,900 U.S. The punishment (which is far more humane than viewing Swept Away on repeat) comes after he admitted to computer trespassing, invasion of privacy and taking copyrighted material with the intention to sell. According to the Associated Press, the court came to their sentencing decision in a bid to deter future hackery.

For reasons we presume go beyond nefarious leak jobs, Madonna’s Rebel Heart wound up bricking hard on the charts this year despite loads of promo push and glitzy guest stars. Reviews were relatively mixed as well and the world politely waits for another album where Madge pairs up with Stuart Price. HOP TO IT, YOU TWO!
