BREAKING: Claire Boucher is a C-3PO superfan.

Talented electronic songsmith/poor houseboat captain Claire Boucher’s new album is due out this October on 4AD. According to a FADER interview with The Artist Currently Known As Grimes, it’ll be full of collaborations with like-minded artists and feature “diss tracks” towards the sexist individuals and tendencies of the music industry. She goes on to mention that the bulk of the album was recorded at her home studio in L.A., and “hundreds of songs” were left off the project.

As if Grimes wasn’t busy enough finishing up the album, she’s managed to find the time in her busy schedule to pen an essay extolling her love of the Star Wars films in the newest issue of LOVE Magazine. The essay, which you can read in full here, praises the technical achievements as well as the costume design of the series:

Costuming has always been one of the strongest aspects of the series. Even the prequel trilogy had striking costumes (a la Princess Amidala’s outfit that heavily referenced royal Mongolian garb – AKA the fashion pinnacle of humanity). A lot of the costumes hold true to the original trilogy, which is a testament to the agelessness of the original design.

“Royal Mongolian garb – AKA the fashion pinnacle of humanity?” Yep, Grimes definitely wrote that, just in case anyone was thinking of throwing out a ghostwriting claim. She also takes special care with her favourite character, fussy golden droid C-3PO?

Rewatching the movies as an adult, C-3PO’s stuttering humanity is a great foil for the violence and intensity of the films. Almost any scary or violent scene is mitigated by a worried awkward robot complaining about safety. And, as with Artoo, you are never really sure of C-3PO is male or female – and with programming he or she could really be any age.

We found her: The one C-3PO superfan. As if writing an entire essay about how great Star Wars is somehow isn’t enough to cement your faith in Grimes’ nerd cred, she also designed an upcoming cover for comic book series The Wicked + The Divine, in which gods reincarnate as pop stars to entrance humanity. Yeah, at this point, it wouldn’t surprise me much if Taylor Swift was an incarnation of Loki.
