Who do you think will take home the big prize tonight?

Tonight is like Christmas for Canadian music fans. After months of deliberating (read: arguing), we’ll go to sleep tonight knowing which Canadian artist is $50,000 richer. Yes: Tonight is the 11th Polaris Music Prize gala, and we are absolutely ecstatic to see who wins.

This year’s shortlist is a doozy, running the gamut from young punks to 80s nostalgists. And no matter who wins, we’re better off again for having a prize this prestigious that year in and year out exists solely to support Canadian music.

White Lung, Andy Shauf, Basia Bulat, Black Mountain, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jessy Lanza and U.S. Girls are performing tonight, and we’ve been told to expect a few fun surprises along the way.

As always, the gala will be live streamed, this year care of CBC Music — you’ll be able to watch it live, starting at 8PM EST via the embed below (or the player up top).

For your reference, here’s the 2016 Short List:

Black Mountain – IV
Basia Bulat – Good Advice
Grimes – Art Angels
Carly Rae Jepsen – E•MO•TION
Kaytranada – 99.9%
Jessy Lanza – Oh No
PUP – The Dream Is Over
Andy Shauf – The Party
U.S. Girls – Half Free
White Lung – Paradise

The Polaris Music Prize will award $50,000 to the Canadian Album of the Year. Each of the nine other Short List artists will receive $3,000 courtesy of Slaight Music.
