50 Cent files for bankruptcy

Rapper 50 cent filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this morning, so let’s just get this out of our system, then we can move on:
– 50 Cent left with 50 cents after filing for bankruptcy
– Hopefully 50 Cent has more than that in the bank after filing for bankruptcy!

Granted, Curtis Jackson’s rap moniker + Curtis Jackson having no money = Very Funny. Less hilarious: 50’s filing for bankruptcy comes right after the rapper was ordered to pay a woman $5 million over a sex tape she made and to which 50 added weird commentary before posting it online. (The woman in the video has a child with Rick Ross; this was 50’s attempt to humiliate his then-rival.) Weird, that’s the exact same strategy my high school rival Jeff Turlington used on me, except it wasn’t so much a sex tape as it was a video of me doing Dragonball Z poses in my backyard.
The invasion-of-privacy lawsuit is almost certainly directly responsible for 50’s current financial woes, coupled with also losing $17.2 million to Sleek Audio in a lawsuit over headphones last year. Even though at his peak the rapper’s net worth was widely-touted to be a cool half-billion in 2010 thanks to his equity stake in Vitamin Water, Forbes reported his net worth to be a “mere” $150 million back in May.
