Management issues or lack of ticket sales? Our bet's on the latter.

Bleak news for fans of Mullumbimby, Australia’s biggest export (well, after anti-vaccination literature): Iggy Azalea‘s Great Escape tour, set to kick off September 18th in San Diego, has been cancelled.

“No! Iggy Azalea’s Great Escape tour was going to be the highlight of my summer!” – Somebody, possibly. The tour, which was slated to include support acts Tinashe and Nick Jonas, was originally scheduled to start in April. However, a statement issued by Def Jam Recordings in March explained the following: “To accommodate for creative team availability and tour productions, it was determined that the tour will not be ready this spring.” Ticket holders then received an email last week, informing them that the tour was cancelled and that full refunds would be available.

While rumours are swirling that a falling out with her management is responsible for young Amethyst Amelia Kelly’s tour troubles, it’s far more likely that it was cancelled for the usual reason giant arena tours have been being cancelled since time immemorial: lack of ticket sales. Thankfully, the no-doubt legions of rabid Iggy fans in Ottawa and Québec can take heart.

I know the rest of us are utterly devastated, but before we all go crazy, let’s just calm down and count our blessings: Kenny Chesney’s Big Revival Tour is still a go, so summer isn’t totally ruined.
