“Didn’t see the edge, I’m ok!”

The opening date of U2’s iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on Thursday, May 14 ended with guitarist The Edge stumbling off the stage. He’s thankfully uninjured and seems to be completely unfazed, not even losing his trademark toque.

Thanks to snarky reviews from CTV News and The Vancouver Sun we can report that details of U2’s two-hour set included the following: Bono and bassist Adam Clayton delivering pizza and croissants to fans camped in line, projected videos of the band members as children alongside images of The Sex Pistols and David Bowie, and an encore of “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” concluding with The Edge’s casually strolling stumble. Watch the video below, originally credited to Instagram user lojohal.

The Edge later posted on Instagram himself with an image of his bruised arm, a glass of wine, and a cheeky caption.

U2 return to Rogers Arena for a second show tonight, so hopefully they can keep a better eye on the lit borders of their oddly shaped walkway. Of course, this is far from the worst accident the band has suffered in recent months. Bono’s cycling spill in Central Park (where he may have been bizarrely disguised as a Hasidic Jew) resulted in his arm broken in six places plus a broken eye socket. Yet the band’s sneaky stunt to release their album Songs of Experience into iPods without users’ permission may have been the biggest stumble of all, or the greatest trick the devil ever pulled.
