While the late-game Beastie Boys—especially Adam Yauch—are well-known for their grown-up-as-heck activism, it’s easy to forget that in the early days, the rap trio were the loboto kings responsible for neanderthal anthems like “Hey Ladies.” But while that song was largely about being jerkoffs, the grey-bearded Adam Horovitz is now giving advice to ladies—young ladies, at that.

Sitting down for a Rookie Ask A Grown Man session, the Beastie Boy fielded questions from teenage girls. And he gave great advice about when to go for that first kiss (“talk about it, and say, ‘OK, we’re just going to do it”), how to deal with insecurities (“everbody feels this way, and if it helps to know, everybody feels that way… and when I get down or depressed, I make music”), and being assertive in relationships (“boys are not altogether that observant, or smart, for that matter”). It’s damn delightful.

This isn’t the first time Rookie has asked grown men to answer teenage-girl problems. Run the Jewels also completed a Q&A with the magazine. And it’s just as delightful.
