A Brooklyn park named after late-Beastie Boys MC Adam Yauch was vandalized on Friday.

Three years ago, a small New York City park was renamed in honour of late Beastie Boys icon Adam “MCA” Yauch. Yesterday, it was vandalized by neo-Nazi Trump supporters.

Located in Brooklyn near Yauch’s childhood home, the park was renamed in honour of Yauch’s thoughtfulness, kindness and undeniable New York spirit. This week, it was graffitied with swastikas in the name of hatred.

It’s easy to point out that this comes in the wake of Donald Trump’s victory and subsequent appointment of openly racist windbags to his team, but it’s more important to point out that hate crimes such as this cannot be permitted, tolerated, or slept on.

In light of that, the rest of the Beastie Boys are working with the NYPD and Parks Department to not only get to the bottom of this intolerance, but to march against it. Tomorrow, with New York state Senator Daniel Squadron, congresswoman Nydia Velazquez and city council-members Stephen Levin and Brad Lander in tow, citizens of New York city appalled with this kind of vitriol will march in a rally through the park to stand up against hate speech. We’d be there if we could.

And remember: If you see a swastika, turn it into a Windows logo:

Adam Yauch died in 2012 after a long battle with cancer. He deserved better than this.
